The three-leaf design maximizes views and the dome shaped plan profile is used to accentuate a series of steps, up the vertical height of the building. These peal away as the building mass gets taller and create a cascade of domes on all three sides.
Petronas Towers in Malaysia (452 meters) and the Chicago's Sears Tower (442 meters) are currently the world's highest man made towers. Recently China and the New York World Trade Centre have announced plans to exceed these records. However, Burj Dubai's height is a closely guarded secret but it will beat all records and on a scale that will be a dramatic testament to Dubai's faith in the future.
The Dubai Mall
Emaar will revolutionize mega-mall retailing with the nine million square foot Dubai Mall. Largest mall in the world, Dubai Mall will be the heroic counterpart to Burj Dubai - the world's tallest tower.
Dubai Mall will be larger than 50 international soccer pitches and is expected to attract over 35 million visitors in the first year of operations.
Every imaginable store will greet shoppers from high end retail and boutiques to daily necessities. While the shopping will be without equal, restaurants and move theatres will make Dubai Mall an entertainment destination that has something for everyone.
Construction will commence towards the end of 2004 and be completed around 2008.
